Sayville Man Arrested After 19-Year-Old Seriously Injured in Restaurant Stabbing

A 23-year-old Sayville man was arrested after police said he stabbed a 19-year-old during a fight inside a Sayville restaurant early Friday morning.

Aaron Gonzalez was inside the restaurant at 60 South Main St. when he became involved in a dispute with the victim at approximately 1:10 a.m. on July 24, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said the dispute became physical and Gonzalez stabbed the 19-year-old during the altercation.

The victim was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gonzalez suffered minor injuries and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue in a private vehicle, police said.

Gonzalez was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct before his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on July 25.
