A Hicksville man was arrested after allegedly assaulting and choking a 27-year-old woman during an argument at a residence Friday night, leaving her hospitalized in critical condition, Nassau County police said.
Police said the assault happened at about 10:45 p.m. Sept. 25 at a residence on Harding Avenue in Hicksville.
During an argument, Geovanny Lucero Vidal, 21, allegedly struck and bit the woman in the face multiple times before grabbing her around the neck and making it difficult for her to breathe, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police said there was a valid order of protection in effect at the time of the alleged assault.
Vidal was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal obstruction of breathing and aggravated criminal contempt.
