5 Involved in Long Island Sound Watercraft Crash, 1 Seriously Injured

Five people were involved in a watercraft collision in the Long Island Sound that left one person seriously injured, according to the Port Jefferson Fire Department.

Port Jefferson firefighters said Marine 6 responded to the collision and found one of the five people involved had suffered a serious injury.

The injured person was stabilized and transferred to Marine 6 to speed up transport back to shore, fire officials said.

Port Jefferson EMS met the boat at the Brookhaven Town boat ramp and transported the patient to a local hospital. No additional information about the person’s condition was immediately provided.

The Mount Sinai and Setauket fire departments provided mutual aid and assisted with securing the scene.

The Suffolk County Police Department is investigating the collision.
