A Farmingdale driving instructor was arrested Wednesday after Suffolk County police said he made sexually explicit and other inappropriate comments to male juvenile students during driving lessons in Hauppauge.
Joseph Klein, 66, is accused of making the comments between July 6 and July 22 while working for Elite Driving of Long Island. Police said the company is affiliated with Ivy League School Driver Education, located at 211 Brooksite Drive in Smithtown.
Fourth Precinct Investigative Unit officers began investigating Klein after receiving a complaint. Police said the investigation determined that his alleged remarks endangered the welfare of his students.
Klein was arrested in Farmingdale at 1:42 p.m. July 29 and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
