A Bellmore home health aide was arrested after home surveillance video allegedly showed her removing a locked box containing cash from a 95-year-old victim’s West Hempstead home, Nassau County police said.
Police said the theft occurred at about 6:39 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. The victim’s son became aware of the incident and contacted authorities.
Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Electronics Squad and Fraud and Forgery Section investigated the case.
Madeline Barranco, 60, was arrested following the investigation and charged with third-degree grand larceny, police said.
Barranco was arraigned Thursday, July 23, at First District Court in Hempstead.
