A 67-year-old Brentwood man has been indicted on multiple narcotics charges after Suffolk County authorities allegedly uncovered a drug distribution operation operating from his residence and seized more than a kilogram of cocaine.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced that Luis Rivera was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and several related offenses following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department’s Narcotics Section.
According to prosecutors, Rivera allegedly sold cocaine to an undercover police officer on three separate occasions during May 2026. Investigators later obtained a search warrant for his residence.
On May 26, Suffolk County police executed the warrant and allegedly recovered more than one kilogram of cocaine, approximately 45 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition, about $11,000 in cash, and drug distribution materials, including a digital scale and packaging supplies.
“The residents of Brentwood deserve to live without drug distribution operations running out of homes in their streets,” Tierney said. “Thanks to the diligent work of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Narcotics Section, we have stopped a significant quantity of cocaine from entering our community.”
Rivera was arraigned June 22 before Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on charges including one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.
Justice Ambro ordered Rivera held on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or a $500,000 partially secured bond. Prosecutors said he faces between eight and 20 years in prison if convicted of the top charge.
Rivera is scheduled to return to court on July 24. Authorities noted that the charges are accusations and that he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
