Roosevelt Man Accused of Carrying Loaded Gun After Blocking Traffic in North Merrick

A Roosevelt man is facing weapons charges after Nassau County police said officers found him carrying a loaded firearm while blocking traffic in North Merrick.

According to detectives, officers responded to Elsie Avenue near Meadowbrook Road at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, for a report of a person impeding the flow of traffic.

When officers arrived, they found Naggie Ford, 21, of Roosevelt, acting irrationally in the roadway and removed him from the area, police said.

During the investigation, officers allegedly discovered Ford was in possession of a loaded silver firearm. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Ford was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment following his arrest.

Ford is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, June 16, at First District Court in Hempstead.
