She Walked Out of a Melville Store With $485 in Nike Gear Now Police Want to Know Who She Is

Around 7 p.m. on March 20, police say a woman walked into the DICK’S Sporting Goods and left with far more than she paid for.

According to Suffolk County Police, the woman stole Nike clothing valued at $485 before exiting the store. The theft happened in plain sight, blending into the routine flow of shoppers along Walt Whitman Road.

For employees and customers, it’s the kind of incident that raises a bigger question. How often does something like this happen without anyone realizing until it’s too late?

Now, detectives from the Second Precinct Crime Section and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help to identify her.

And this is where the case could break.

Police believe someone recognizes the woman and may be able to connect the dots.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, using the P3 Tips mobile app, or visiting www.P3Tips.com. All tips remain confidential.

For now, she remains unidentified.

And investigators are hoping someone watching this story knows exactly who she is.
