Thanksgiving Eve Tragedy on Long Island: Nesconset Teen Kills Ex-Girlfriend, Then Shoots Himself

Suffolk County Police are investigating a deadly Thanksgiving Eve shooting in Nesconset after a 17-year-old boy allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend to death before turning the gun on himself Wednesday morning.

According to police, the teen fatally shot 18-year-old Emily Finn of West Sayville inside his home at 134 Shenandoah Boulevard North at approximately 11:10 a.m. The boy then shot himself in the face. His parents immediately called 911.

Officers and emergency personnel arrived to find Finn dead at the scene. The 17-year-old was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police said the teen—whose identity is being withheld because of his age—will be charged with Murder in the Second Degree. He is expected to be arraigned at a later date once medically cleared.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about what led to the shooting.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
