Hear ye, hear ye! The Fifth Annual Farmingdale Medieval History Day returns to the Village Green on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., hosted by the Canton of Lions End, part of the Crown Province of Østgarðr.
This free, family-friendly event at 361 Main Street in Farmingdale invites the community to experience the Middle Ages through a wide array of demonstrations, exhibits, and crafts. Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), dressed in medieval clothing from various centuries, will showcase historical arts, sciences, and martial skills throughout the day.
Attendees can explore family-oriented crafts, games, hands-on demonstrations, and displays designed for both adults and children. Fighters and fencers will demonstrate their prowess and armor. While audience participation in combat is not allowed, visitors are encouraged to ask questions and learn more.
This event is organized by the Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee, which invited the SCA group to host the day’s activities. It also coincides with the Farmingdale Fire Department Spring Street Fair and Open House, giving visitors even more reason to spend the day shopping, dining, and exploring Main Street.
The Crown Province of Østgarðr is the greater New York City chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a not-for-profit educational and social organization dedicated to re-creating aspects of medieval and Renaissance culture.
