Roslyn Oncologist Accused of Sexual Abuse During Exam in New Hyde Park

A Roslyn doctor has been arrested after police say he sexually abused a patient during a medical appointment in New Hyde Park last year.

According to Nassau County detectives, the incident occurred on May 9, 2025, at approximately 12 p.m. at Optum Hematology Oncology, located at 2800 Marcus Avenue. Police allege that Dr. Mark Hoffman, 71, of 26 Sugar Maple Drive in Roslyn, had unwanted sexual contact with a 48-year-old female patient during a routine oncology appointment.

Detectives said Hoffman and the patient were alone in the exam room at the time and no nurse was present.

Following an investigation by the Nassau County Police Department’s Special Victims Squad, Hoffman was arrested without incident on March 5, 2026.

Hoffman was charged with Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree and Forcible Touching.

According to court records, Hoffman was arraigned the same day in First District Court in Hempstead, where he pleaded not guilty. A temporary order of protection was issued, and bail was set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 insured bond, or $50,000 partially secured surety bond.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Hoffman to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or the Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022. All callers will remain anonymous.

Authorities noted that criminal charges are accusations and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
