An 18-year-old tutor at the Port Washington Public Library has been charged after police say he sexually abused a 7-year-old girl during tutoring sessions inside the library earlier this month.
According to the Port Washington Police Department, Taylor Lindberg, 18, of Haven Avenue in Port Washington, allegedly had unwanted sexual contact with the juvenile victim on two separate occasions inside the library building on May 11 and May 18.
Police said Lindberg worked as a tutor at the library, located on Library Drive. Detectives allege the incidents occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on May 11 and 5:15 p.m. on May 18.
Authorities said the Nassau County Police Department Special Victims Squad assisted Port Washington police in locating Lindberg on Tuesday, May 19. He was arrested without incident.
Lindberg has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
First-degree sexual abuse in New York involves subjecting another person to sexual contact by forcible compulsion or when the victim is incapable of consent due to age or other factors. The charge is classified as a felony.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been victimized by Lindberg to contact the Nassau County Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Police said all calls will remain anonymous.
