Comics fandom has lost a hero. The popular You-Tuber Ben Potter died in an “unfortunate accident” on Saturday, June 8th, according to his wife. In a post on the 40-year-old social media star’s many channels, Nathalie Potter said, “to many of you he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for.”
Potter was known for his commentary on Marvel and DC comic books on Comicstorian channels. He had millions of followers. He also ran other channels including Eligible Monster Gaming and Mangastorian, highlighting manga and graphic novels.
Potter’s wife said she wanted to find a way to continue his work.
“The team and I want to keep that going,” Nathalie said.
Local comic writing legend Scott Snyder memorialized Potter on his X account.
“Completely Stunned and deeply saddened to hear this,” Snyder wrote. “Benny’s love for comics was infectious and amazing to be around. My sincere condolences to his family.”
Others went to his channels to express their own grief, some of whom have followed Potter for over a decade and attribute his videos to their continued love of comics.
