Police Rescue Father and Two Children After Jet Ski Capsizes in Great South Bay

Suffolk County police rescued a father and his two children after their Jet Ski hit a wave and capsized in the Great South Bay near Sayville on Sunday afternoon.

The family was riding the personal watercraft at about 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 2 when it struck a wave, throwing all three people into the water, police said.

A witness called 911, and officers from the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau responded aboard the Marine Juliet and Marine Mike.

Officers Keith Miller, Robert King, Gary Quenzer and Chad Murray deployed life rings and pulled Christopher Cruise, 31, Isabella Donoghue, 16, and Christopher Cruise, 10, from the water.

All three were wearing life jackets and were not injured, police said.
