Man Killed After Tractor Rolls Backward and Pins Him in Commack

A 62-year-old man was killed after a tractor rolled backward, struck him and pinned his legs beneath the vehicle Tuesday in Commack, Suffolk County police said.

Abdelmontalab Sati, of Amsterdam, New York, had exited a 2023 International tractor and walked behind it when the vehicle began rolling backward, according to police.

Sati was found unconscious with his legs pinned beneath the tractor at 4:42 p.m. at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway.

He was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, where he was pronounced dead.

Fourth Squad detectives are investigating when the incident occurred and the circumstances that caused the tractor to move.
