A Lindenhurst man has been sentenced to 7 to 15 years in prison for a drunk driving crash in Freeport that killed a 55-year-old worker returning home from his job at AHRC Nassau.

Bryan Mizhirumbay, 24, was sentenced Monday, Nov. 2, for the September 2025 crash that killed Craig White. Prosecutors said Mizhirumbay was traveling as fast as 106 mph before running a red light and striking White’s vehicle.

Mizhirumbay pleaded guilty Aug. 12, 2026, before Judge Caryn Fink to aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault and aggravated driving while intoxicated.

The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office had recommended a sentence of 7 to 18 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, White was driving home from work at AHRC Nassau in Freeport at approximately 11:07 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2025. He was traveling north on South Long Beach Avenue through the intersection with Atlantic Avenue.

Mizhirumbay was driving east on Atlantic Avenue at speeds reaching 106 mph in a 35 mph zone. He ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of White’s vehicle.

The impact sent both vehicles across the intersection. White’s vehicle crashed through a fence at Atlantic Nursery, while Mizhirumbay’s vehicle came to rest along the westbound shoulder of Atlantic Avenue and caught fire.

White was found unconscious and trapped in the driver’s seat, which had been pushed into the passenger compartment by the force of the collision.

He was transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mizhirumbay was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment. A blood test approximately one hour after the crash showed his blood alcohol concentration was 0.18%, more than twice the legal limit.

Investigators also examined data from Mizhirumbay’s vehicle, which showed he was traveling approximately 106 mph three seconds before the collision. His vehicle struck White’s car at approximately 90 mph despite intermittent braking.

Mizhirumbay surrendered to the Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad on Jan. 20, 2026.

“Craig White was a devoted father, friend, and beloved member of the AHRC Nassau community,” Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly said.

Donnelly said White’s death had devastated his family, including his recently engaged daughter, who will now get married without her father present.
