Lindenhurst Man Charged After Knife Attack at Apartment Complex

A Lindenhurst man has been arrested after Suffolk County Police say he attacked another man with a knife inside a local apartment complex Tuesday evening.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on February 17 in the entryway of Putnam Gardens, located at 930 North Putnam Avenue in Lindenhurst.

According to investigators, Tesfa Tucker, 42, who lives at the complex, allegedly used a knife to attack a 27-year-old man from Central Islip who was known to him.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Tucker has been charged with two counts of Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on February 19 at First District Court in Central Islip.

Authorities remind the public that a criminal charge is an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
