Homeless Man Pulled Gun on Three Cyclists in East Meadow

A homeless man was arrested after Nassau County police said he displayed a firearm toward three young men riding bicycles in East Meadow on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Nassau County Police Department’s First Squad, officers responded to a disturbance near Meadowbrook Parkway and Front Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 17.

Detectives said three male victims, ages 17, 18 and 20, were riding bicycles when they were approached by Ramzee A. Mayo, 47, who allegedly displayed a firearm during the encounter.

The victims fled the area and called 911, police said.

Officers located Mayo nearby and arrested him without incident. Authorities said the firearm was recovered at the scene.

Mayo was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and three counts of Menacing in the Second Degree.

Police said further investigation revealed Mayo also had an active Nassau County warrant. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, May 18, at First District Court in Hempstead.
