Hicksville Box Truck Driver Accused of DWI After Bohemia Crash Injures Man

A box truck driver was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after police said he rear-ended another vehicle on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia, sending its driver to the hospital.

Noel Ventura Sorto, 35, of Hicksville, was driving a 2024 Hino box truck westbound near Locust Avenue at approximately 5:54 p.m. Thursday, July 30, when the truck struck the rear of a 2011 Subaru, according to Suffolk County police.

The Subaru was driven by a 32-year-old Levittown man. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Ventura Sorto was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday, July 31, at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
