Sure you can sit home and binge Star Wars on Disney + or your trusty old VHS tapes but let’s be real, we do that all the time anyway. To really celebrate May the 4th this year we want to do something special. Maybe even outdoors. With people. Below we assembled just a few suggestions on what to do on Saturday to celebrate May the 4th in 2024.
Free Comic Book Day – May the 4th happens to coincide with Free Comic Book Day this year. Double geeky goodness in one day! Click here to find out all the specials that comic book shops across Long Island are running on FCBD. In addition, the 501st Legion will also be at 4th World Comics in Smithtown taking pics to celebrate May The 4th! Darth Vader will be visiting Grasshopper’s Comics in Williston Park.
The Skywalker Saga 23-hour May The 4th Marathon – A 23-hour Star Wars movie marathon at Showcase Cinemas’ Island 16: Cinema De Lux in Holtsville. The theater will be the only one on Long Island to host a marathon. So ditch the DVD and get tickets to a real movie theater to enjoy our favorite space opera in all its glory. Marathon guests will enjoy: A limited edition poster and keepsake badge, Star Wars-themed menu offerings including signature cocktails, and 25% off food and beverage purchases throughout the marathon (excluding tax, gratuity and alcohol). If you’re a Mets fan, then the Force is not with you because they’re out of town on Saturday.
2nd Annual Long Island Fairy Festival – If you happen to be sick of Star Wars and want something completely different (Seriously, who are these people? Do they even exist?), then head to Sands Point Preserve for the LI Fairy Festival. As a nature preserve with four major ecosystems – forest, pond, meadow and beach – the Sands Point Preserve is perfectly situated for a celebration that combines a passion for the natural environment with a sprinkling of fairy magic! I mean you COULD go in Star Wars cosplay. Who’s gonna stop you? Click here for more.
