A Florida man was arrested after Nassau County police said he took more than $68,000 for a Mineola home renovation project that was never started or completed.
Brian Draizin, 65, of Boynton Beach, Florida, surrendered at the Nassau County Police Department’s Third Precinct and was arrested without incident following an investigation by the Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Section, police said.
According to detectives, a woman who was 38 at the time entered into a home renovation contract with Next Generation Modular Homes & Additions Inc., located at 90 Gaza Boulevard in Farmingdale, on Dec. 11, 2024.
The woman wrote the company a check for $68,512, which was cashed, police said. Detectives said no renovation work was ever started or completed at her Mineola residence, and numerous attempts to contact the company went unanswered.
The incident was reported to police on June 11, 2026.
Investigators also determined that Draizin was operating as an unlicensed contractor in Nassau County, police said.
Draizin was charged with second-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and operating as an unlicensed contractor in Nassau County.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, Sept. 3, at First District Court in Hempstead.
