A 24-year-old driver was arrested after a pedestrian was seriously injured in an early-morning crash on Route 112 in Patchogue, Suffolk County police said.
Edison Jovanny Morocho Gonzalez, of Patchogue, was driving a 2018 Honda Civic south on Route 112 near Silver Street at about 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, when the car struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway, according to police.
The pedestrian, identified as Savier Alverca Jiminez, 43, of Patchogue, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue with serious injuries.
Police said Morocho Gonzalez was driving without a license and was also wanted on multiple warrants.
Fifth Squad detectives charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and on the outstanding warrants.
Morocho Gonzalez was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Aug. 17, at First District Court in Central Islip.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

The charges are accusations. Morocho Gonzalez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
