A Cedarhurst man has been arrested months after a crash in Woodmere that left a Valley Stream man dead, according to Nassau County police.
Police said the crash happened on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at about 7:53 a.m. at the intersection of University Street and Branch Boulevard.
Detectives said Michael Kreindler, 39, of Valley Stream, was driving a 2023 Tesla on University Street when he made a left turn onto Branch Boulevard and collided with a 2019 Honda Accord driven by Brayan Romero Flores, 24, of Cedarhurst.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment following the crash. Kreindler was initially listed in critical condition.
Police later announced that Kreindler succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a hospital physician.
Following an investigation, Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives arrested Romero Flores in connection with the crash.
Romero Flores, of 451 Court Avenue in Cedarhurst, has been charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Assault in the Second Degree and Reckless Driving.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, May 28, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
