Brooklyn Man Charged With $24K Home Depot Theft Spree Across Nassau

A Brooklyn man has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts targeting Home Depot stores across Nassau County last year, police said.

According to Nassau County Police Fifth Squad detectives, Tony Curtis, 64, of Brooklyn, is accused of stealing nearly $25,000 worth of merchandise during a one-day spree on August 30, 2025.

Investigators said Curtis entered multiple Home Depot locations throughout Nassau County, selected various items totaling approximately $24,970.15, and exited the stores without paying. Authorities allege he passed all points of purchase before leaving with the merchandise.

Following what police described as an extensive investigation, detectives located Curtis and took him into custody without incident.

Curtis has been charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a felony under New York State law. The charge applies to thefts involving property valued at more than $3,000 and can carry significant prison time if convicted.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on April 11, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
