Something new just quietly opened in Oyster Bay… and unless you know exactly where to look, you’re probably walking right past it. Tucked behind Provisions Market on South Street, Bull Moose is one of the more low-key openings on the North Shore, a private cocktail lounge designed to feel less like a bar and more like a place you somehow got invited into.
It’s small. Really small.
The entire space seats just 12 people, creating an atmosphere that leans more toward quiet conversation than crowded nightlife. Inside, it’s all low lighting, layered interiors, and a layout built for lingering rather than rushing through a drink. The owners describe it as not a scene, it’s a refuge.

But there’s a very Long Island twist built right into the name.
- It’s named after a local legend (sort of): “Bull Moose” is a nod to Theodore Roosevelt, whose home at Sagamore Hill helped make Oyster Bay the “Summer White House.” Roosevelt’s Progressive Party was famously nicknamed the Bull Moose Party.
- You’ll probably walk right past it: The lounge is hidden behind Provisions Market, making it more of a “you either know or you don’t” kind of spot.
- Only 12 seats total: This isn’t a place for big groups or loud nights. It’s intentionally designed to stay intimate.
- Cocktails lead the experience: The focus is on carefully crafted drinks, backed by a curated selection of wines and spirits.
- Late-night bites stay out of the way: The food, created by chef Jesse Schenker, leans toward hand-held, refined options like caviar and small plates that complement the drinks instead of competing with them.
- It doubles as a social salon: Expect small gatherings like tastings, conversations, and member-led events — more “private club energy” than traditional nightlife.
The space comes from Lush Life Hospitality Group, led by Schenker and Claudia Taglich, and is meant to complement their growing collection of Long Island concepts without feeling like just another restaurant.
Instead, the idea is simple: a place you can settle into, have a real conversation, and not feel like you’re being rushed out the door.
