Two employees of a BJ’s Wholesale Club in Valley Stream are accused of carrying out a months-long fraud scheme that netted approximately $175,000, Nassau County police said.
According to investigators, Ranaldo Davis, 19, of Rosedale, and Marquis Johnson, 31, of Westbury, were arrested Tuesday, April 14, 2026, following an investigation into suspicious activity at the store located at 125 Green Acres Road South.
Detectives said the two men, both employed at the BJ’s location, worked together to process multiple fraudulent merchandise returns between January 13 and April 12. Authorities allege the scheme allowed them to steal approximately $175,000.
Police did not detail exactly how the fraudulent returns were carried out, but said the activity was identified by the department’s Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Unit.
Both men were arrested without incident.
Davis and Johnson have been charged with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree.
Grand larceny in the second degree in New York typically applies to thefts exceeding $50,000 and can carry significant prison time if convicted. The additional charge of falsifying business records further elevates the severity of the case, indicating alleged efforts to conceal or manipulate transaction records.
Both defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.
The case remains under investigation.
The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
