A Hampton Bays man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after his vehicle left the road and crashed into a utility pole in Shinnecock Hills Friday night, Southampton Town police said.
Police responded at about 10:40 p.m. Sept. 25 to the area of North Road and Old North Highway for a report of a single-vehicle crash.
Officers found a 2009 Hyundai that had left the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.
Police said an investigation determined that the driver, Fernando Reyes Cruz, 25, was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Reyes Cruz was arrested at the scene and taken to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.
He was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI and several traffic violations. Police said the DWI charges are misdemeanors.
Reyes Cruz was held overnight for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.
No injuries were reported in the crash, police said.
