A 63-year-old Bellport woman was arrested Thursday, Oct. 15, after allegedly stealing socks and other clothing from a Macy’s store in Hampton Bays, according to Southampton Town Police.
Police said officers received a report of a shoplifting incident at the Macy’s located at 190 West Montauk Highway at approximately 12:26 p.m.
The woman allegedly removed several clothing items, including socks, from the store without paying and left in a vehicle.
Responding officers located the vehicle shortly afterward and recovered the stolen merchandise, police said.
Elizabeth Langer, 63, of Bellport, was arrested and charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both misdemeanors.
Langer was processed at Southampton Town Police headquarters and released with a desk appearance ticket.
