A 44-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually abusing three young girls during separate incidents inside a Medford TJ Maxx, Suffolk County prosecutors said.
Jimmy Harry Velasquezgomez pleaded guilty Aug. 27 to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a Class D violent felony, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.
The victims were 7, 9 and 11 years old when the incidents occurred in 2025, prosecutors said. All three encounters were captured on store surveillance video.
The first incident happened April 19, 2025, when a 7-year-old girl was shopping with her mother and received permission to look around the toy aisle. Prosecutors said Velasquezgomez approached the child and squeezed her buttocks.
The girl immediately returned to her mother and told her what happened. Her mother was unable to locate Velasquezgomez and called police.
On Sept. 20, 2025, an 11-year-old girl was shopping with her parents when she walked away to look for a gift for a friend. Prosecutors said she saw Velasquezgomez nearby touching his genitals through his clothing before he approached her and grabbed her buttocks as he passed.
The girl told her parents, but Velasquezgomez had already left the store. Police were contacted.
A third incident occurred Oct. 29, 2025, when a 9-year-old girl was shopping with her mother and walked farther down an aisle to look at toys.
Prosecutors said Velasquezgomez passed the girl, looked down the aisle several times, then approached her, lifted the bottom of her sweatshirt and squeezed her buttocks. The child ran back to her mother.
Suffolk County police gathered surveillance footage that showed Velasquezgomez at the store on each of the three dates, prosecutors said. Video from the October incident also showed him touching his genitals over his clothing while staring at the 9-year-old girl.
Velasquezgomez was arrested Nov. 1, 2025, in East Islip and has remained in custody since his arrest.
“This defendant deliberately targeted innocent children as they went about their daily lives,” Tierney said, adding that his office would continue pursuing people who harm children.
Velasquezgomez pleaded guilty before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis.
He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 9, when prosecutors said he will be sentenced to three concurrent six-year prison terms followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. Full stay-away orders will be issued for each victim.
Velasquezgomez was also certified as a sex offender.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Raso of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau. The investigation was conducted by Detective Jhon Puentes of the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section.
