West Babylon Store Employee Accused of Possessing Felony Amount of Crack Cocaine

An employee at a West Babylon convenience store was arrested Thursday after police said he was found with a felony amount of crack cocaine and materials associated with narcotics sales.

Suffolk County police identified the employee as Jerome Jones, 55, of Patchogue.

Police said First Precinct Crime Unit officers, First Precinct Community Support Unit officers and Town of Babylon officials executed a search warrant at Infinite Convenience Store at approximately 3 p.m. July 16.

The search followed complaints from members of the community, according to police.

Investigators said Jones was found in possession of crack cocaine, along with bags and scales that police described as being associated with the sale of narcotics.

Jones was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class B felony.

Police said Jones was being held at the First Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment July 17 at First District Court in Central Islip.

The charges are accusations, and Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
