A 17-year-old male was seriously injured after being shot during an altercation in the backyard of a Mastic home Thursday evening, and Suffolk County police are searching for the gunman.
According to Suffolk County Police, the shooting occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. on July 9 in the rear yard of 123 Neptune Ave. During the altercation, the teenager was shot before the suspect fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Seventh Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and have not announced any arrests or released information about a possible suspect.

Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
