Woman Confronts Intruders in East Hills Home After Overnight Burglary

A woman came face-to-face with two intruders inside her East Hills home early Monday morning before the suspects fled, according to Nassau County police.

Detectives said the incident occurred on June 22 at approximately 3:49 a.m. at a residence on Melby Lane.

According to investigators, a 38-year-old woman was inside her home when she received an alarm alert from a garage door leading into the main floor of the residence. When she went downstairs to investigate, she found two unknown men inside her kitchen.

The woman screamed for help, prompting the suspects to run out through a rear kitchen door and flee in an unknown direction. Police said the suspects left in an unknown vehicle.

The investigation determined that three unidentified suspects had walked up the driveway before the burglary and rummaged through a vehicle parked at the residence prior to entering the home.

Detectives later learned that approximately $1,000 in U.S. currency had been stolen from inside the house.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
