A Rocky Point woman was arrested earlier this month on a Family Court bench warrant related to alleged child neglect, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
Rosa Acosta, 39, was taken into custody on April 3 on a warrant issued under Article 10 of the Family Court Act, which covers child neglect cases. Authorities said the warrant was originally issued on November 20, 2025, by a Family Court judge.
Additional details about the underlying case were not immediately released.
Acosta, who is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, has ties to Rocky Point, Islip, and Ronkonkoma, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest was carried out by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Warrant Squad, which is responsible for locating and apprehending individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.
Article 10 cases in Family Court involve serious allegations that can lead to court-ordered supervision, removal of a child from a home, or other legal actions designed to protect minors.
It was not immediately clear if Acosta was released or remains in custody. No additional court dates were announced.
The charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
