A Westbury man was arrested after Nassau County police said he bit a woman, kicked in the front door of a New Cassel residence, pointed a loaded handgun at her and struck her with the weapon Thursday night.
Ernest Naranjo, 22, of Covert Street, was arrested following the Oct. 1 incident, Nassau County police said.
Third Precinct officers responded to a New Cassel residence at about 7:25 p.m. for an aided case. Police said Naranjo had arrived at the home and became involved in a disturbance with a 21-year-old woman.
The confrontation escalated and Naranjo allegedly bit the woman’s lip before leaving the residence, police said.
Naranjo then returned and allegedly kicked in the front door, pointed a firearm at the woman and struck her with the gun, according to police. He then fled on foot.
The woman called police and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
After an investigation, officers located Naranjo near Union Avenue and Linden Avenue, police said. He allegedly ran from officers but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Police said officers recovered a loaded Colt .25-caliber handgun from Naranjo.
Naranjo was taken by a Nassau County Police Department ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.
He was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, third-degree criminal mischief, aggravated criminal contempt and first-degree criminal contempt.
Naranjo was arraigned Friday, Oct. 2, at First District Court in Hempstead.
