Suffolk County police are investigating an early-morning break-in at Nick’s Smoke Shop & Convenience in Rocky Point after surveillance video captured two people forcing their way into the business.
Seventh Squad detectives said two people entered the store at 586 Route 25A on July 22 and stole property. Police received the call at 2:58 a.m.

Exterior surveillance video shows two people wearing dark clothing standing near the store’s entrance. One of them appears to throw a rock or similar object at the front door, breaking it before both people enter the business.
Someone with knowledge of the incident said numerous items were taken, although the full extent of the theft was still being determined. The store’s cash register was later recovered empty down the road, according to the source.
Police have not publicly disclosed what else was stolen or provided an estimated value for the missing property.
The investigation remains ongoing.
