Police Chase: Man Wanted for Reckless Driving, Fleeing Police Officer

Nassau County police are searching for a man accused of fleeing an officer during a reckless driving incident in Greenvale.

Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher Doherty, 33, who is wanted for reckless driving and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree. Police said the incident occurred in Greenvale and have not released Doherty’s place of residence.

While investigators did not provide specific details about the pursuit, the charge of unlawfully fleeing a police officer indicates the suspect allegedly failed to stop and continued driving while being pursued by law enforcement.

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor offense in New York that involves operating a vehicle in a way that unreasonably interferes with public safety. Unlawfully fleeing a police officer in the third degree is also a misdemeanor and can carry potential jail time, fines, and a criminal record if convicted.

Police described Doherty as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Doherty’s whereabouts to contact Nassau County Police. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and officials warned the public not to attempt to apprehend or detain the suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing.
