Former Suffolk Police Officer Sentenced to Two Years in Jail for Running Brothel as Part of Criminal Enterprise

A former Suffolk County police officer has been sentenced to two years in jail for helping operate a brothel that was part of a years-long criminal enterprise in Suffolk County, prosecutors said.

George Trimigliozzi, 56, of Islip, an 18-year veteran of the Suffolk County Police Department, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in September to promoting prostitution, official misconduct, and unlawful imprisonment. Prosecutors said Trimigliozzi served as co-manager of a Holbrook brothel operating under the names American Girls Spa, Spa, and Reiki for Healing, all located at 6089 Sunrise Highway. He worked under ringleader Frank Saggio, 61, of West Islip, who admitted to running a criminal organization that profited from prostitution between 2019 and 2024.

“It is particularly egregious when a sworn police officer abandons his duty to participate in criminal activity,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney said in the announcement. “This prosecution dismantled a years-long criminal enterprise, and I commend my Public Corruption Bureau for holding the defendant responsible for his actions.”

According to court records, Trimigliozzi admitted that on March 19, 2021, he abandoned his assigned police duties and drove nearly 90 mph in his patrol car to respond to a robbery at the brothel, a location he was not authorized to leave his post to protect. Prosecutors said he operated the Holbrook location with co-defendant Steven Arey, a 26-year Islip School District employee whose case remains pending following an indictment on enterprise corruption and 27 counts of promoting prostitution.

Saggio required sex workers to pay significant monthly fees — $6,000 at the Holbrook location and $12,000 at his West Babylon operation known as the Tunnel of Love — according to prosecutors. Saggio’s girlfriend, Dana Ciardullo, 33, of North Bellmore, managed the West Babylon site and pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution. She is scheduled to be sentenced December 18.

Saggio pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption, a Class B felony, and agreed to forfeit $1.875 million. His sentence is pending.

Trimigliozzi also pleaded guilty under a separate indictment to unlawful imprisonment after restraining a woman in his personal vehicle following a date in Patchogue. He has since been terminated from the Suffolk County Police Department.

The investigation was led by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Public Corruption Bureau and Public Corruption Squad investigators.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
