Nassau County police are searching for Supreet Mangat, a 31-year-old Elmont man wanted on an open felony bench warrant for second-degree arson tied to an incident inside a residence.
Police said Mangat was previously arrested in connection with the case and is now wanted after failing to appear in court and/or comply with the conditions of his release.
According to investigators, the charge stems from an incident on September 19, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., when officers responded to a disturbance at an Elmont home.
Detectives said a 26-year-old woman who lived at the residence was not there at the time but received a message from a housemate reporting screaming coming from her room. The woman then contacted Mangat via FaceTime and observed him acting erratically and damaging property, including setting a chair on fire inside the home.
Responding officers arrived and observed Mangat continuing to damage property, police said. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor lacerations. No other injuries were reported.
In addition to second-degree arson, Mangat was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident.
Authorities described Mangat as an Asian/Pacific Islander male with black hair and brown eyes. He is listed as 6 feet, 6 inches tall and approximately 260 pounds.
Police said he is wanted in connection with the Elmont case and urged the public not to attempt to apprehend him.
Anyone with information about Mangat’s whereabouts is asked to contact Nassau County police or submit an anonymous tip through Nassau County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-244-TIPS or visiting nassaucountycrimestoppers.com.
