A baby girl was born inside a Nassau County Police Department ambulance early Saturday after officers responded to a woman in labor in Hicksville, police said.
Second Precinct officers and a Nassau County police medic responded to a West Old Country Road location at about 3:59 a.m. Sept. 12 for a report of a 28-year-old woman in labor.
Police said officers and the medic helped the woman into an NCPD ambulance and began transporting her to a local hospital.
The baby girl was delivered inside the ambulance while it was on the way to the hospital, according to police.
The mother and baby were both in stable condition and doing well, police said.
