MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A 21-year-old Medford man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash in Middle Island early Aug. 27 left one man seriously injured and another person hurt, Suffolk County police said.
Police said Noah Slusser, of Medford, was driving a 2017 Ford Taurus southbound on Wilson Drive at about 12:05 a.m. when the vehicle struck a 2025 Toyota that was parked on the street in front of 26 Wilson Drive.
James Baldassarri, 44, of Holtsville, who was inside the Toyota, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
A second occupant of the Toyota, Crystal Springman, 27, of Middle Island, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police arrested Slusser and charged him with driving while intoxicated. He was scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 27 at First District Court in Central Islip.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the crash and asked anyone with information to call 631-854-8652.
