Tesla Driver Arrested After Holbrook Crash Seriously Injures Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a Tesla on Nicolls Road in Holbrook, and police arrested the Tesla driver on a drug-impaired driving charge.

Robert Krumm, 24, of Holtsville, was riding a 2017 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Nicolls Road between Greenbelt Parkway and Route 27 at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, Suffolk County police said.

The motorcycle collided with a 2023 Tesla traveling southbound on the same road, police said.

Krumm was taken to Stonybrook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The Tesla driver, Bertie Simeon, 37, of Huntington Station, was not injured.

Police arrested Simeon and charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs. Police said he was being held overnight ahead of a scheduled Aug. 5 arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

The charge is an accusation. Simeon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
