A father and son from Massapequa Park were arrested after police said they assaulted a man with a baseball bat and wooden rod during a dispute Tuesday afternoon.
According to Nassau County police, officers responded to a Grant Street residence at approximately 1:55 p.m. on June 23 for a reported assault.
Detectives said Brian McKeon, 67, and Brian McKeon Jr., 33, both of Grant Street, became involved in a verbal dispute with a 34-year-old man on a nearby property. The argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the two defendants struck the victim multiple times with a wooden rod and a black baseball bat.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Police did not release details regarding the extent of his injuries.
Officers located both defendants nearby and took them into custody. During the investigation, police recovered a black baseball bat and a wooden rod that were allegedly used in the incident.
McKeon and McKeon Jr. were each charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
They were scheduled to be arraigned June 24 at First District Court in Hempstead.
