A Massachusetts man was arrested after Nassau County police said officers recovered a loaded handgun and two switchblade knives during a traffic stop in Carle Place late Wednesday night.
According to Nassau County Police Third Squad detectives, members of the Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team were on patrol at approximately 10:36 p.m. on May 20 when they observed a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on Old Country Road before merging northbound onto the Northern State Parkway without using a turn signal.
Police said officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop.
During the investigation, officers recovered two switchblade knives and a loaded handgun from the vehicle, according to detectives.
The driver, identified as Steven Raymond, 25, of Dunstable, Massachusetts, was arrested without incident.
Raymond is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, May 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
