A Mastic man was arrested Saturday morning after Suffolk County police said he stabbed another man with a boxcutter outside a Farmingville deli following a dispute.
The stabbing happened at approximately 9:05 a.m. May 16 at Mooney Pond Market, located at 374 Mooney Pond Road, police said.
According to police, Christian Evans, 24, got into a dispute with a stranger inside the deli. Evans then went outside and stabbed another man with a boxcutter, police said.
Evans fled the scene and was arrested at 9:21 a.m. at the nearby 7-Eleven at 358 Mooney Pond Road, according to police.
The victim was taken by a stranger to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Evans was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Evans will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned May 17 at First District Court in Central Islip.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
