A shopper’s wallet was stolen during a distraction theft at a Commack Home Goods, and a credit card from the wallet was later used at a Huntington Macy’s, Suffolk County police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fourth Squad detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating three people wanted in connection with the March incident.
Police said a woman was shopping at Home Goods, located at 6 Henry Street in Commack, at about 2 p.m. on March 3 when an unknown woman approached and distracted her.
While the shopper was distracted, another woman stole the victim’s wallet from her handbag, police said.
A short time later, a third woman used a credit card from the stolen wallet at Macy’s, located at 180 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington, according to police.
Authorities released images of the three people wanted in connection with the case in a Suffolk County Crime Stoppers alert dated May 11.
