Suffolk County police are asking for the public’s help as detectives investigate a crash in Miller Place that seriously injured an 18-year-old motorcyclist Tuesday evening.
Police said a 23-year-old Miller Place woman was driving a 2019 Nissan Kicks northbound on Miller Place-Yaphank Road near Jonah Road when she attempted to make a U-turn and collided with a southbound 2004 Suzuki motorcycle at approximately 7:46 p.m. on May 5.
The motorcycle operator, identified as Riley Ahearn, 18, of Middle Island, suffered serious physical injuries and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, according to Suffolk County Police.
The driver of the Nissan was not injured in the crash.
Sixth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to contact the squad at 631-854-8652.
The investigation remains ongoing.
