Suffolk County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman accused of using a fraudulent identification card to steal a package containing approximately $19,000 in silver bars and coins from a FedEx facility in Melville last month.
According to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Second Squad detectives, the theft occurred on March 23 at approximately 5 p.m. at a shipment processing center located at 270 Express Drive South. Authorities said the suspect presented fake identification to retrieve the package before leaving the location.
Police said the stolen package contained a significant quantity of silver bars and coins with an estimated value of $19,000, making the case a felony-level grand larceny under New York law.
After obtaining the package, the woman fled the scene in a white electric Chevrolet Equinox, according to investigators.
No arrest has been made, and the suspect has not yet been identified.
