Last night and in the early morning hours on Sunday, reckless unauthorized car meets erupted across multiple locations in Suffolk County, leaving bystanders stunned and police scrambling.
Witnesses described scenes of lawlessness with cars performing dangerous stunts, fireworks shooting from vehicles, and traffic grinding to a halt in Miller Place, Shirley, and Patchogue.
One eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous, summed up the night’s chaos: “It’s like Mad Max out there!”
In shocking footage, sent to SciFiSland.com, shows cars spinning in donuts and fireworks lighting up the sky at the intersection of Route 25A and Miller Place Road. Traffic was reportedly held up for nearly 20 minutes as drivers took over the intersection in a display of anarchy.

But Miller Place wasn’t the only location affected. According to Suffolk County Police, the night began with a large car meet at Gateway Plaza in Patchogue around 1:15 a.m. As police attempted to disperse the crowd, one motorist recklessly fled the scene, leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old from Roosevelt, who has been charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer and Reckless Endangerment.
Later, police were alerted to vehicles obstructing traffic in several other locations, including William Floyd Parkway in Shirley and Route 25A in Miller Place. A 2023 Dodge was impounded after its driver abandoned the stalled vehicle and fled on foot.
One 19-year-old woman watching the car meet in Patchogue was seriously injured when a vehicle performing stunts struck her before fleeing the scene. She was self-transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police were not alerted to the injury until about 3:30am.
Authorities are investigating whether these events are connected as the chaos stretched from Patchogue to Shirley and Miller Place, disrupting the night across Suffolk County.
Despite police efforts to quell the disorder, one resident’s words echo the lawlessness seen throughout the night: “It was anarchy.”
