Dancer, actor, AI. Alex Diehl has a twisting tale to tell on his journey from arabesque to android. Diehl was a dancer who after recovering from an injury discovered yoga practice and that in turn informed his portrayal of Synth Unit F8, among others, in his role on Star Trek: Picard. But that wasn’t the first time Diehl played an android because he had a previous modeling gig playing Data at an event that strangely had absolutely nothing to do with him getting his part on Picard.
We caught up with Diehl at Trek Long Island 3 this year. He gives us an honest account of his journey and how he used what he learned to create the Synth character.
