Olivia Youngers Is the Sci-Fi Multihyphenate You Didn’t Know You Needed

Olivia Youngers

Olivia Youngers shows up in the quirkiest, awesomest places when it comes to Sci-Fi. Let’s check it down.

Top of the geek list is her role as Ensign Riggs on the third season of Star Trek: Picard. According to Memory Alpha, “Ensign Riggs was a Human female Starfleet officer who served in the sciences division on the USS Titan-A in 2401.”

Next she was a guest star on the iconic short form geek comedy about tabletop gamers, The Guild, by the equally geeky and funny Felicia Day. She’s also a cosplayer who does a cool Emma Frost. (Hey Feige! We got a real one here!)

And last, but seriously not least, Youngers is an actual, honest to God scientist whose day job is probably her most important role. She is a biotech major who helps run clinical oncology studies for pharma companies. Oh, did we also mention she’s an aerialist? We’ll get to that.

Youngers is the complete geek.

“Star Trek helped foster my passion and interest in science,” she said in our wide-ranging interview that covered many of her bona fides.

We were lucky enough to sit down for a few minutes at Trek Long Island to speak with Youngers about her geek creds and of course her role on Star Trek. Engage!
